Fisheries and aquaculture provide employment for millions and food for billions. But illegal fishing, overfishing and pollution are endangering fish stocks and ecosystems. The social, economic and environmental performance of the fisheries sector is dependent on effective management, smarter public spending and forward-thinking public policy.
The OECD Review of Fisheries monitors the performance of the fisheries sector and aims to help countries understand the health and productivity of fish stocks worldwide , and forge new public policies designed to better support fisheries’ vital role in global food security and the ocean economy.
