The DAC has set standards on issues ranging from terms and conditions of aid and untying official development assistance (ODA) to enabling civil society, the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, and ending sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment in development co-operation.
While a few principles and standards become official, legally binding OECD instruments, most of them are primarily indicative, yet very influential guidance documents as they represent the political will of adherents.
In addition, the DAC collaborates with other policy committees in the OECD to develop joint standards, including on policy coherence for sustainable development and managing the risk of corruption.
