Since 2016, the OECD has organised biennial OECD Skills Summits together with host countries. OECD Skills Summits provide ministers and senior officials with a unique opportunity to learn from each other’s experience in designing and implementing skills policy reforms, as well as to discuss how to best elevate skills policy on the public policy agenda.
Centre for Skills peer learning events
The OECD Centre for Skills offers valuable peer learning opportunities, including the biennial ministerial OECD Skills Summit, the annual Skills Strategy Peer Learning Workshop, the biennial apprenticeship symposium and other targeted peer learning events. These initiatives enable countries to exchange experiences and insights, learn from each other, and identify effective strategies for addressing common challenges. By participating in such peer learning activities, countries can strengthen their skills policies.

Group of National Experts on Vocational Education and Training
The Group of National Experts on Vocational Education and Training (GNE on VET) assists the Education Policy Committee in helping members and partners to develop effective, efficient and evidence-based policies for vocational education and training and adult learning. At their annual meeting, the national experts discuss current and future priorities for VET in their countries, share insights from recent and ongoing initiatives, and explore common interest for new data and policy insights.
Skills Advisory Group
The Skills Advisory Group (SAG) is a horizontal and informal advisory group providing strategic guidance to OECD work on the development and effective use of skills. The SAG updates countries on the work done within the OECD in the area of skills. It also provides countries with an opportunity to express their interest in specific skills related issues and thus to guide future OECD work.
Country workshops
The OECD Centre for Skills offers tailored peer learning events on skills topics of interest to countries. These can involve bringing peers in from other countries to learn from their experiences on specific skills policy topics or study tours to other countries to learn about and see their skills policies in practice. Typically, these workshops involve the preparation of short background papers to stimulate reflection and discussion, facilitated and interactive discussions techniques, and the preparation of short summary papers.
Southeast Asia Regional Policy Network on Education and Skills
The aim of the OECD’s Southeast Asia Regional Policy Network on Education and Skills is to foster knowledge exchange in support of national growth and regional integration by encouraging a whole-of-government approach to the formation and implementation of skills policies.
